An interior
designer in Philadelphia

Welcome to the vibrant world of interior design in Philadelphia, where historic charm meets modern living.

At Design by Anais, we believe that every space has a story to tell and that great design is about more than just aesthetics—it's about creating environments that reflect your unique style and enhance your lifestyle.

Whether you're a renter looking to transform your space, a homeowner wanting to create the perfect home, or a real estate professional seeking to maximize the appeal of your properties, I am here to bring your vision to life.

My approach to interior design in Philadelphia

I understand the unique challenges and opportunities that come with designing spaces in Philadelphia.

With a cityscape characterized by a mix of historic buildings and modern developments, I know how to strike the perfect balance between preserving the city's rich architectural heritage and infusing spaces with contemporary style and functionality.

I am an expert at working with the diverse needs of Philadelphia residents.

Whether you're looking to create a cozy urban retreat in a small apartment or transform a spacious suburban home into a showcase of modern design, I have the skills and expertise to make it happen. From concept to completion, I’ll work closely with you to understand your needs, preferences, and budget, ensuring that the end result is a space that truly reflects your personality and lifestyle.

3 things I love to do in Philly

1- Walking in the cute streets of Washington Square area and Society Hill (Quince St and Clinton St might be my forever faves!)
2- Grabbing a vegan corn dog at Reading Terminal market
3- Strolling the waterfront of the Schuykill river

Have you ever worked with someone that took so much longer than you expected?

That's not what you can expect from Design by Anais!

I like to keep my timelines short, and strive for a quick turnaround time.

Why Design by Anaïs?

Because I live in NYC myself, I am the best interior designer for any New Yorker who wants to create a home you’ll love.

I understand your challenges: I’m myself a renter here, paying a high monthly fee for a little piece of the city. Which makes our interiors even more essential than anywhere else!

Thanks to a caring process, and an in-depth discovery phase, I will understand your needs and dreams about your home.

My goal: building a space you'll love!

Every design I create is unique, tailored to you, and you only!

Hey there, I'm Anaïs, the founder of Design by Anaïs. A few years back, I started this venture with a simple goal: to offer all-in-one, personalized, and affordable design packages that cater to each of you.

Your home is your sanctuary—a place of refuge and comfort in this world. Its significance goes beyond mere trends; it's about crafting a space that resonates with you, nurturing your well-being and mental health every day.

Drawing from my upbringing in France, my travels across four continents, and my explorations in the City, I seek inspiration to curate the most remarkable selections for you. My mission is to create a home that speaks to your heart and reflects your unique style, making your everyday life truly special.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to hire an interior designer in Philadelphia?

How much does it cost to hire an interior designer in Philadelphia?

Depending on the type of services you are looking for, the prices won't be the same.
For instance, if you are looking to hire a full-service designer who will come to your house, create custom furniture for you, install everything themselves in your house…, the price will be way higher because your project will requires tens of hours of work.
On the other hand, an e-designer who builds a selection for you, but doesn't actually come and install it in your home will be able to offer you lower prices.

But let's talk about Design by Anaïs!
These are my main 2 offers:

Home Design Magic
If you need a full-room design:
- If you have a one-function space (like a bedroom or a dining room): it’s a 1700$ fee for the whole room
- If you have a multi-function space (like a living area that also includes the dining room, or a bedroom that also serves as a WFH office): it’s a 1900$ for the whole room

If you don't need a full-room design, or your project is smaller (corner of a space only, accessories only, small rooms like a bathroom reno): the price is 950$ for the whole project

Custom package:
This option is usually when Home Design Magic is not the best fit (smaller project, trip included, important renovations…)
In that case, I create a package just for you. After asking you a few questions, I will give you an estimated pricing.

Can an interior designer save me money?

Can an interior designer save me money?

Absolutely! Hiring an interior designer can actually save you money in the long run. Here's how:

First, a skilled designer will help you make smart purchasing decisions, choosing items that not only align with your style but also fit your space perfectly. This means no more buying furniture or decor that ends up being too big, too small, or just not right for your home, saving you from costly mistakes and the hassle of returns.

Second, through the use of 3D design tools, your designer can visualize your space before any purchases are made. This allows you to see exactly how everything will look together, preventing any surprises or regrets once the design is implemented.

By avoiding these common pitfalls, you're already saving money. And let's not forget the time you'll save by entrusting your project to a professional. Instead of spending hours researching and shopping on your own, you can relax knowing that your designer has everything under control.

Do interior designers choose furniture?

Do interior designers choose furniture?

Certainly! When you entrust me with a full-room design project, I take care of everything from furniture and accessories like rugs, lighting, wall art, and decorative items to wall treatments such as paint or wallpaper, and even finishes like cabinets and floors if the project calls for it.

However, I'm also happy to work with any furniture you already have and love. In those cases, I focus on selecting accessories that complement your existing pieces, tying your interior together and creating a cohesive and beautiful vibe without the need to change your furniture.

What are you paying for when you hire an interior designer?

What are you paying for when you hire an interior designer?

When you hire an interior designer, you're investing in more than just a service—you're investing in their expertise and vision. With a decorator like me, you're paying for a carefully curated selection of materials, furniture, and accessories that align with your style and needs.

At Design by Anaïs, you're not just paying for a service; you're paying for my experience, dedication to personalizing your project to reflect your tastes, and my commitment to delivering quick turnarounds, typically within 10 days. My goal is always to place you at the center of the process, ensuring that the end result is something you'll love.

My services include comprehensive full-room designs, layout consultations, paint color consultations, live coaching sessions, and expert accessory selections, among many other options. When you hire me, you're investing in a partner who will bring your vision to life with style, efficiency, and personalized attention to detail.

How much will it cost to upgrade my home?

How much will it cost to upgrade my home?

Determining the cost of upgrading your home involves considering a variety of factors, each of which can significantly impact the overall price. For example, if your project involves renovations or construction work, the cost will be influenced by materials, labor, and contractor fees. However, my specialty lies more in the realm of furniture and accessories.

When it comes to furnishing and accessorizing your space, there are numerous options to consider. You might opt for more affordable brands like Target, Wayfair, or IKEA, which could allow you to redo an entire bedroom for around $3500, including both furniture and accessories. On the other hand, choosing higher-end brands like Lulu & Georgia, Restoration Hardware, or Jenni Kayne could result in a similar room upgrade costing around $15,000.

In my approach, I strive to create a balanced mix of pieces, combining investment pieces like sofas, beds, and dining tables with more budget-friendly options for accent items such as rugs, lighting, and decor. This approach allows for a creative and stylish outcome while being mindful of your budget.

One of the advantages of working with a designer is our ability to optimize your budget. We know how to blend different brands and price points to achieve a look that is both stunning and within your financial means. If you're unsure whether your budget aligns with your vision, feel free to reach out to me, and I can provide further guidance to help you make informed decisions.

How does it work if we work together?

How does it work if we work together?

When we collaborate, regardless of the package you choose, our process remains consistent and personalized to your needs.

Once your order is received, I will provide you with a personal board containing a brief video outlining the process and everything you'll need to prepare. While it's not mandatory, we usually schedule a call before our official start date to discuss your design aspirations in more detail.

After our initial discussion, I dive into crafting the perfect layout for your apartment or house. Next, I meticulously curate a selection of furniture and accessories, including rugs, lighting, decor, pillows, and wall art, tailored specifically to your space.

Once the selections are finalized, I create your deliverables, which include:

3D renderings of the room
A clickable shopping list featuring all the items from your selection (furniture + accessories)
A detailed layout plan outlining where each piece will be placed in your space
Installation and styling guidelines to assist you in setting up and styling your new pieces
Depending on the scope of the project, you can expect to receive everything within 7-10 business days. Throughout the process, my goal is to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience, guiding you through each step to bring your design vision to life.

Can you work with clients who are not in Philadelphia?

Can you work with clients who are not in Philadelphia?

I don’t need you to be a local to work together.

My process was specifically designed to be done 100% remotely.
Actually, fun fact, even if I have a lot of clients in Philly, I only get to see 10% of my project in real life!
So being out of Philadelphia is not a problem at all!
I did projects in New York City, California, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Bahamas, Hawaii and many more!

My 3 favorite spots in Philly

1- Enjoying an amazing cheese platter at Tria Cafe Wash West
2- Finding unique gifts (for myself) at Verde on S 13th St
3- Grabbing a coffee at Habitat Coffee house on Spruce St
