One of the most common things I hear from potential clients is: “I think I need someone to handle everything.”

And honestly, I completely understand why they feel that way.

If you’ve spent weeks (or months) trying to decorate your home, you’ve probably looked at hundreds of sofas, rugs, dining tables, paint colors, and light fixtures.
You’ve saved dozens of Pinterest photos, opened twenty browser tabs, measured your room three different times, and somehow still have no idea whether everything will work together.

At that point, it feels like the only solution is to hand the entire project over to someone else.

But after designing more than 200 homes, I’ve realized that this isn’t usually the real problem.

The real problem isn’t the work

Most people assume they’re overwhelmed because decorating a home is a lot of work. But that’s rarely what they’re actually struggling with.

They’re struggling with the decisions.

Should you keep the dresser you already own?
Is an 8’x10′ rug too small?
Will that sofa fit comfortably in the room?
Do those dining chairs actually work with that table?
Should you paint before buying furniture or after?

Every single decision feels important because every decision affects the next one.

When you don’t have the knowledge or experience to answer those questions confidently, you end up second-guessing everything. You spend hours researching, comparing options, asking friends for advice, and scrolling Pinterest hoping you’ll eventually find “the answer.”

It’s mentally exhausting!!

What full-service interior design actually solves

Traditional full-service interior design is an amazing option for the right project.

If you’re renovating your home, coordinating contractors, managing custom furniture orders, overseeing deliveries…, having someone manage every aspect of the project can be incredibly valuable.

You’re not just paying for design.
You’re paying for project management.
You’re paying for someone to coordinate trades, schedule installations, solve unexpected problems, receive deliveries, inspect furniture, and make sure everything happens in the right order.

For some people, that’s exactly what they need.

But that’s not what everyone needs

Many of my clients already have access to everything they need to bring the design to life.

You can order furniture online.
You can hire a local painter if you want to repaint the walls.
You can book a TaskRabbit or handyman to assemble furniture, mount shelves, or hang artwork.

What you don’t have is a plan.

You don’t know what furniture to buy.
You don’t know what size rug works.
You don’t know how to arrange the room.
You don’t know what to keep, what to replace, or how to make everything feel cohesive.

That’s where I come in.

Instead of managing the entire project, I remove the hardest part: all the decisions.

By the time we’re finished, every choice has already been made. You receive a complete layout, realistic 3D renderings, a shopping list, measurements, and detailed styling guidelines. Instead of wondering what to do next, you simply follow the plan!

The right designer depends on what you need

Neither approach is better. They’re simply designed to solve different problems.

If you want someone to coordinate contractors, manage deliveries, oversee installations, and handle every logistical detail, then a full-service interior designer is absolutely the right choice.

But if what you’re really looking for is clarity, if you’re overwhelmed by the decisions rather than the physical work, then you may not need someone to manage the project from beginning to end.

You may simply need someone to create the roadmap, for a fraction of the price of full-service design.

Because once the decisions have been made, bringing your home to life is often much easier than you ever imagined!!

Do you really need a full-service designer?
